BEGINNING iTRAIN w JACK A STANDARD- POODLE- - His first time
Meet 'Jack' a young Standard Poodle. Jack's first time trying long-leash-training; which is great intermediary/preliminary training, preceeding off - leash training. This is just a video for very beginner long- leash. Jack is so very fast, and my Jack Russell Terrier would in 'no-way' - 'no-how' advance sooo fast, as Jack! It is good if your dog knows his basic common commands such as sit/stay/come/off/heel/leave it or don't touch & I add down!

7 STEPS
KNOW COMMON COMMANDS
1) Know basic sit, stay, down come.
GO OPPOSITE WAY
2) Go opposite direction whenever dog reaches the end of the leash & pulls
CALL DOG - COME
3) Call your dog by name and encourage him to come to you.
You may run/walk backwards to encourage dog to come faster
(Be encouraging - happy energy!)
SIT OR DOWN
4) You may have dog sit or down after he comes to you so he knows what to do with his body when he approaches you.
REWARD DOG
5) Reward your dog within 3 seconds. I use a small piece of cheese and as you see even in zoos, to target practice, even zoo keepers use food to train anywhere from dolphins to apes.
You can also use squeeky toys, balls, tug toys, frisbees, pressure release of pressure ststems, as reward systems. ect...
DOGGAMES
6) Turn and vary speeds to keep the dog attentive and having fun.
You may to encourage dog.
You may run/walk backwards to encourage dog to respond faster.
AUTOMATION
7) Like a rule book to a game, automation happens when the dog has experience a consistant pattern long enough that they can start to anticipate what part of the pattern will happen next.
